The Battle for Power in Saigon

SOUTH KOREAN TROOPS ARRIVE IN VIETNAM.
LIEUT. GEN. NGUYEN KHANH turned over command of South Vietnam's armed forces to Major Gen. Tran Van Minh in ceremonies at the Joint General Staff Headquarters in Saigon. Khan has been named Ambassador at large. During the ceremonies a contingent of South Korea soldiers arrive in Saigon.
KEYSTONE PHOTO SHOTS: The first contingent of some 2,000 South Korean soldiers arrive in Saigon. They are only engineers an construction units. JSS/KEYSTONE 3-3-65
The Korean soldiers in this (great) photo were probably about to recieve their first MPC payment. Although MPC coupons were not issued until January 1970, the Korean soldiers were nevertheless paid in MPC throughout their service in Vietnam.
Free Money
The American Numismatic Association (Money.org) has announced two programs which amount to free money for readers! The association is raising membership rates after holding the line for several years. The raise is going into effect early in October. A raise in rates means ash saved for you f you act now. Not a member? Join. Regular member? Become a life member. The more you buy, the more that you save! Gof for the gold.
Want to learn about paper money grading or counterfeit detection? The ANA Summer Seminar is the place to go. The ANA is offering scholarships (full and part) to attend the seminar in 2027. Go to money.org for details but do not delay.
Editorial
We were happy to get the work out on Ray Fellers program on Japanese-American internment camps. Although the notice was late (not our fault, this time), the attendance was good as was the program! The really good new is that after some editing the program will be permanently available at money.org. Hopefully we can bring you the note when that posting is made.
We are also pleased to bring you the notice of free money from the ANA (see above). The matter of ANA membership is sometimes a bit controversial. We strongly support the organization. We feel that we get disproportional support from the association. Consider the number of military classes that have been offered at the summer seminars since 2001.
